PARAGUAY: Offer of a deal with Oviedo is alleged

When the local media claimed that the government had offered to release former general Lino Oviedo from prison if his party, the Unión Nacional de Ciudadanos Eticos (Unace) supported President Nicanor Duarte's proposal to lift the ban on reelection, the government dismissed the accusation in what appeared to be great indignation. On 27 August the report was corroborated by Unace president Enrique González, who is also the president of congress.
